Sugar Skulls-Embroidery

Sugar skulls in general are a type of folk art made for Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead celebrations.  As loved ones are celebrated on this holiday, Ofrendas or altars are decorated for All Saints Day. Pictures are placed and the loved one who passed can have their name placed on the sugar skull. Here is Tucson we have an amazing All Souls Procession annually and there is no shortage of art. Sugar skulls are not meant to be scary, but a celebration and noting the beauty in one's life. This sugar skull series will incorporate multimedia pieces including beads, paint, hand embroidered one of a kind pieces for your Ofrenda, or for all year decorations.

Choose from our finished handmade pieces in the store or contact us for a custom piece for loved ones that have passed on. Choose from a selection of patterns and specify colors. These pieces are one of a kind and often use up-cycled materials. If you have beads, ribbon or embroidery floss from your loved one, we can use these in the making of the pieces as well. A perfect way to honor your loved one. Check out the pattern options below and contact for pricing. Prices start at $10 an inch per hoop (example 5 in diameter hoop starts at $50). Additional costs based on materials and changes to pattern.
